Meet the Founder

👋 Hi and welcome! I’m Tatjana—a digital marketer, certified California Naturalist, UC Climate Steward, and Climate Reality Project Leader.

I created Sustainable Desert to tell the stories of desert changemakers and ecosystems, and to make it easier for people to find local resources, take action, and live more sustainably across the Desert Southwest. While our roots are in the Coachella Valley, we’re expanding our storytelling and resources to serve communities throughout the region.

I bring over 20 years of experience in marketing and strategic communications and now focus that work on supporting climate education, conservation, and community resilience—through both grassroots and professional projects. I serve as Co-Chair of the Food System Resilience Committee for the Los Angeles Chapter of The Climate Reality Project and as an educator for the UC Climate Stewards program, helping train new climate leaders in science, adaptation, and engagement.

I also collaborate on climate communication and conservation efforts in the California desert, including field research with the National Park Service and UC Riverside.

Thanks for being here—and for helping shape a more sustainable future in the desert.
